Ludwig Appler, who moved from the GDR , works as a site manager on various construction sites. Since he is constantly on the move, he limits himself to a life at work. He doesn't have a family of his own and doesn't have a permanent place of residence because he lives in the trailer. One day, however, his life changes dramatically. His company goes bankrupt, he loses his job and his foothold. He is also plagued by financial difficulties. Appler himself is bankrupt and suddenly homeless. Desperate, he strolls through everyday life, looking for a way out. Finally he gets to know the bums at Münchner Freiheit . Suddenly he feels a connection to them, who have also ended up on the street through fate. He joins them, learns how to make records and defy the adversities of hard life on the fringes of society.
