Münchner Strasse 1 in Bad Kissingen

The property at Münchner Straße 1 in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under number D-6-72-114-69 .

history

The property has served as Bad Kissingen's post office since it opened in 1933. It was created in the years 1929 to 1933 by the architect Heinrich Götzger (1927–1930 government master builder at the Oberpostdirektion Würzburg). From 1900 to 1933, the Bad Kissingen post office was housed in the Ludwigstrasse 20 building. In 1928 Götzger had already built what was then the post office vehicle hall at today's Winkelser Straße 1 .

The rectangular building with a flat roof is designed in the New Objectivity style and influenced by the Bavarian Post Building School of the 1920s and early 1930s under Robert Vorhoelzer .

Originally there was a steel and glass bus stop in front of the post office on Münchner Strasse. A kiosk in front of the post office was demolished in the late 1950s; there the road development in front of the post office was built. The kiosk had an underground toilet facility under the tramway. In the spring of 2018, the toilet facility was removed and the cavity filled.
