Sculpture promenade in Angermünde

The Mündesee with a size of 120 hectares is located immediately north of the city of Angermünde in the Uckermark . The Angermünder districts of Kerkow and Dobberzin are located on the west and east banks of the lake, while the northern area is more structured and largely natural by a long peninsula.

The south bank of the lake is a two-minute walk from the center of Angermünde. The lake is closely linked to the history of the city of Angermünde and to the creation of the city's coat of arms.

The Angermünder city coat of arms shows, among other things, a deer swimming towards a gate. During a hunt, hunters chased a handsome stag. He saw the only possibility of escaping into the lake. He swam straight towards the city. He went straight through the sea gate into the city where he was then killed.

The Mündeseerundweg was created in recent years. Part of the circular route is the sculpture promenade. The women used to do their laundry here, now the promenade is a popular destination. In the middle of the lake there is a boulder , known as a hunger stone , on a sandbank below the surface of the water . When the water level drops in dry summers and the harvest is poor, it can be seen.
