The Münster-Lengnau-Bahn (MLB) is a route operated by BLS AG , which was originally separated from their network and was therefore partly run under its own name. Legally, the MLB was never an independent company. Only since the merger of BLS with Regionalverkehr Mittelland in 2006 has it been connected to the rest of the company's network, namely in Moutier station .

The MLB shortened from 1915 the line of Jura train from Moutier (German cathedral ) to Biel . Its centerpiece was the Grenchenberg tunnel , which is over 8.5 kilometers long .

The trains were led away from the SBB from the start . Today the continuous ICN trains from Basel to Lausanne / Geneva use the route ( course book field 230 ). Operation and maintenance of the infrastructure is the responsibility of the BLS owner.
