Building Mürwiker Strasse 183–185

The building at Mürwiker Straße 183-185 is a residential building from the 1930s on the edge of the Flensburg-Mürwik base , which is at the end of Mürwiker Straße and is one of the cultural monuments of Flensburg-Mürwik .

background

The building was erected in 1935/36 by the Naval Construction Office on the edge of the news school as an administration building. The structure was created as a two-story brick building with a gable roof . The street front was given two entrances, similar to a semi-detached house . But on the courtyard side, the main entrance with the accompanying staircase was built.

The old site administration building served as the headquarters of the Schnellbootflotille during the Cold War . In Flensburg-Mürwik the command of the Schnellboot (KdoS) was permanently set up on October 1st, 1957 , which was led by a captain at sea . In 1967 the aforementioned large association was renamed the Schnellbootflotille . The 3rd Schnellbootgeschwader was also located in Flensburg since 1957 . Presumably during the Cold War, a Bundeswehr shelter was added to the building . The conversion of the base in the 1990s led, among other things, to the relocation of the Schnellbootflotilla to the Warnemünde naval base in 1994 and later to its dissolution. The 3rd Schnellbootgeschwader was also disbanded with the end of the Cold War in the 1990s. The naval base command Flensburg-Mürwik of the base was finally also dissolved at the end of 1998. The seat of the Schnellbootflotille was converted for residential purposes, whereby the above-mentioned outside staircase to the courtyard was removed. The building was registered as a cultural monument for historical, artistic and urban planning reasons . Today there are twelve residential units in the residential building.

  5. Not to be confused with the leader of the speed boats of the German Navy . At the end of the Second World War , the staff of this department was obviously based in the Flensburg area, but where exactly is obviously not clearly documented. The naval officer Rudolf Petersen assembled his speedboats in early May 1945, at least in the Geltinger Bay near Flensburg.
