M. Robert Aaron

M. Robert Aaron (born August 21, 1922 in Philadelphia , † June 16, 2007 ) was an American electrical engineer who was specialized in telecommunications .

Life

Aaron received his bachelor's degree in 1949 and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania two years later . In the same year he started his work at Bell Laboratories . There he helped design various transmission systems , including TAT-1 , the first transatlantic telephone cable . He was also a key contributor to the design of the T1 , the beginning of the T-beam system .

Memberships

Aaron was a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a fellow with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a co-recipient of the 1978 IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal .
