Margaretha Vasalis
M. Vasalis (birth name: Margaretha Drooglever-Fortuyn-Leenmans ; born February 13, 1909 in The Hague , † October 16, 1998 in Roden, Noordenveld , Drenthe , Netherlands ) was a Dutch psychiatrist and writer .
Life
After attending school, she studied medicine and worked as a psychiatrist after completing her studies.
Later she also began writing and wrote not only poems but also stories with descriptions of the everyday life of modern people. In 1940 her book Onweer was one of the books given out free by booksellers during the so-called Boekenweek Present . Her best-known volumes of poetry include Parken en woestijnen (1940), De vogel Phoenix (1947) and Kunstenaar en verzet (1958).
For her complete works she received the Constantijn Huygensprijs in 1974 and in 1982 the Dutch P.C. Literature Prize, which has been awarded since 1947. Hooft-prijs .
