from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MAD (proper name: MaD ), Zeitschrift für M aterialien, A nalysen, D ocumente, was an anarchist publication that was published from 1971 to 1973 and was later subtitled Anarchist Hefts . The publisher was the Federation New Left (FNL) group in Hamburg.

history

The Hamburg group Föderation Neue Linke, which saw itself as a federation of autonomous, anarchist district and grassroots groups , published the first edition of MaD in 1971 . After the FNL was discontinued, the magazine got the subtitle Anarchist Hefte ; it was the basis for founding the publishing house. The content of the first issue was the international situation of the radicals and autonomous class struggles under the exclamation known in the 1960s: stay tuned, it will definitely work one day . The editors were of the opinion that a combination of revolution and poetry was quite possible, that neo-anarchism should be merged with surrealism and dadaism . Articles were published about the Situationists ; about tactics and strategies of industrial struggles and anarchist propaganda texts. In addition to libertarian groups, MaD also found widespread use in the alternative movement of the 1970s. With this, the MaD collective wanted to pass on the theoretical knowledge and experience with this journal. In 1968 and 1969 not only students, but also schoolchildren and young workers took part in the demonstrations and discussions. At that time, there were anarchist groups in Hamburg with a tendency towards anarchism, including Uwe Timm . There were regular meetings of libertarian groups.

Main topics

The individual editions of MaD appeared with their respective main topics. No. 1: Theories of the Council Movement ; No. 2: Solidarity with the Georg von Rauch House ; No. 3: On violence and No. 4/5: Critique of Bolshevism . These topics should be used to produce materials and analysis of propaganda. Lutz Schulenburg, MK Markunin and Pierre Gallissaires formed the editorial team and also published the MaD folded texts and the MaD circular on the subjects of “prison” and “Paris May” . Anarcho-Syndicalist reprints appeared as MaD Reprint . A MaD pamphlet Advice, From wild strike to generalized self-government , was confiscated for calling for company sabotage. The MaD pamphlets appeared from 1973 to 1976 and published texts by Cornelius Castoriadis and the group 'Solidarity', Critique of the Situationists and Literature, Percussion and Best Recommendations (Poems), by Manfred Ach, Heidi Schmidts Tagträume und Seisse and Die Barbaren come from PP Number . The satirical magazine MAD-Magazin took legal action against the publisher's name “MaD” because the names were identical. Lutz Schulenburg's publishing house has been called Edition Nautilus ever since . The Anarchist Notebooks were named after No. 4/5, 1973 Revolte! . It should be reserved for discussions about theoretical and practical approaches to problems. It was published until 1982. The libertarian publication Die Aktion , a magazine for politics, literature and art , was published from 1981 to 2013 by Edition Nautilus.
