MAG is a first person shooter only for online multiplayer by Zipper Interactive for the Playstation 3 . It was released on January 26, 2010 in the US, January 29 in Europe, and February 11, 2010 in Australia and New Zealand. Sony announced on July 17, 2013 that it would cease server operations on January 28, 2014. As a pure online multiplayer game, MAG can no longer be played from this point on.
Style of play
The game is characterized above all by the number of players who can be online in a game at the same time. So it is possible that 256 players from two factions can stay on one server at the same time. Due to the number of players, the organization of the factions gains in importance compared to a usual first-person shooter. The political groups are organized as follows:
- Squadleader commands an eight-man squad
- Platoonleader commands four squads
- Company leader commands four platoons
Factions
When creating an account, the player must choose one of the three factions:
- SVER (Seryi Volk Executive Response) based in Chechnya
- Valor based in Alaska
- Raven based in Austria
