In 1968, MAN also presented a standard bus according to VÖV guidelines. This 750 HO-SL is essentially a further development of the metro bus MAN 750 HO-M 11 A (with rear engine ) in the dimensions of the VÖV specifications. The bus was initially equipped with the MAN diesel engine D 2156 HMXU with 160 HP. The front and roof of the vehicle were revised up to series production in 1970. At this time the slightly larger engine with 192 hp was also available, the 750 HO-SL was offered with both engines until 1972. At that time, the standard public service buses were also available in a similar form from the other manufacturers Daimler-Benz , Büssing and Magirus-Deutz .
In 1972, the type designations at MAN were changed so that the power in hp was now integrated into the type designation. The 750 HO-SL became the SL 192 . From then on, the bus was only offered with the larger 192 hp diesel engine.
The SL 192 was available as standard with the VÖV front (with the horizontally curved, glare-free inside windshields ) and also with the StÜLB front of the intercity bus (with vertically curved windows on the sides). In 1975 the SL 192 was replaced by the MAN SL 200 , which was built in parallel in the plant in Salzgitter-Watenstedt taken over from Büssing as early as 1973 .
