Martine McCutcheon (* 14. May 1976 in Hackney , London , as Martine Kimberley Sherri Ponting ) is a British singer and actress .

Life

McCutcheon began her career with appearances on English television series . She became known to the general public with her appearances on the soap EastEnders . In 1999, their first single, Perfect Moment, hit the market and hit number one on the UK charts. She was able to achieve high chart positions with further single releases from her debut album You, Me & Us . With the following albums, she could not continue the success of her debut album . Outside of England, she was best known for the film Indeed ... Love . She played theater in London. In 2012 she married her longtime boyfriend, singer-songwriter Jack McManus , who was eight years her junior . In 2013 she filed for bankruptcy.

Pop career

In 1999 McCutcheon released their first single Perfect Moment on the Virgin Records label . To the amazement of the critics, the ballad entered the UK singles chart at number one. The song was also a number one hit in Italy , Israel , Switzerland and Ireland . In the same year she released her debut album You, Me & Us with which she was able to occupy second place in the British album charts. Two more singles followed, I've Got You and Talking in Your Sleep . Both singles were able to reach top 10 places.

In 2000 McCutcheon released their second album Wishing . The album fell short of expectations and only came in at number 25. The singles I'm Over You and On the Radio , however, reached number 2 and 7 respectively. Nevertheless, the management of Virgin Records was disappointed with the performance of their second album and canceled their record deal . Two years later she brought out a third album, Musicality . Due to the poor performance of their third album, their record deal was canceled again, this time by EMI .
