Jump! The Phillipe Halsman Story (alternate title: Jump ) is a 2006 film directed by Joshua Sinclair , who also wrote the screenplay. The film is based on the life of Philippe Halsman .
action
Philippe Halsman is at the center of this judicial drama. His father, a Jewish dentist, died under unexplained circumstances in 1928 while hiking in the mountains in Innsbruck. The then 22-year-old was put on trial, despite his pledges of innocence, that caused a sensation across Europe. When he was released from dungeon, he went to Paris and then to New York, where he worked as a star photographer for the newspaper "Time-Magazins".
background
The shooting took place in the Upper Austria area and was completed on July 1, 2006. The state capital Linz doubled for some scenes, especially scenes in Linz's old town , Innsbruck . The entire film crew was in Kremsmünster for a long time . There the court scenes were recorded in the imperial hall of the Benedictine monastery and the dungeon scenes were filmed in the cellar of the Theater am Tötenhengst .
Reviews
“In two hours of“ Jump ”, however, the confrontation with the persecution of the Jews becomes rather superficial, the actors are sold below their value. The soundtrack recorded by the Linz Bruckner Orchestra and the nature shots provide comfort over the length of the staging. "
“Gripping material, but staged in a conservative way. Nothing against Hollywood star Patrick Swayze (55), but as a lawyer the former Dirty Dancer looks pretty out of place. "
