Maruv (actually Ukrainian Ганна Корсун Hanna Korsun ; born February 15, 1992 in Pavlohrad , Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian singer and composer .

life and career

Korsun was born in Pavlohrad in 1992. In 2014 she completed her studies at the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" . Although she had little time for music during her studies, she took part in the Ukrainian competition The voice of the country. Reboot part and reached the finals. At the same time she met her current husband, the PR manager of the band The Pringlez , Oleksandr Korsun. In 2015 the band took part in the New Wave Festival. They also took part in Widbir 2016, the Ukrainian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 .

In 2017 the band The Pringlez changed their name to Maruv . In addition to the name, the band also changed their style of music. In 2017 they released their debut album Stories , which contains songs in Ukrainian , Russian and English . In the same year, Korsun met Mikhail Busin, a guitarist and DJ who publishes songs under the pseudonym "Boosin". Together they founded the label Zori Sound and released music under the name Maruv & Boosin . Her first song was called Spini ; her second song Drunk Groove was very successful in Ukraine. On June 10, 2018, the two sang their song for the 2018 World Cup at a concert in Moscow . On September 28, 2018, they released their debut album Black Water .

2019 took Korsun under the name "Maruv" with her self-written song Siren Song on Widbir 2019 in part and won the Ukrainian preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv , Israel . Korsun was supposed to sign a contract with the UA: Perschyj broadcaster , which said, among other things, that she had to cancel all of her concerts in Russia by May 2019 and that she was not allowed to make any public appearances in the country until ESC 2019. After she did not sign the contract until February 25, 2019, both Korsun and UA: Perschyj announced that she would not compete in Tel Aviv. The rules of Widbir 2019 did not stipulate that the participants were not allowed to perform publicly in Russia.
