MASwings is a Malaysian regional airline based in Miri and based at Miri Airport . It is a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines ( MAS for short ).

history

MASwings took over the flight operations of FlyAsianXpress on October 1st, 2007 .

Of the four ATR 72-600s delivered so far, three have already been returned to other airlines (NAM Air & Firefly).

Destinations

MASwings operates hubs at Miri , Kota Kinabalu and Kuching airports and flies to remote rural areas in Borneo as part of the Rural Air Service ( RAS for short ) .

Previously deployed aircraft

Incidents

On October 10, 2013, a De Havilland Canada DHC-6-310 Twin Otter with the aircraft registration number 9M-MDM on MASwings Flight 3002 crashed during a failed go - around shortly after Kudat Airport . Two people died in the accident and four others were injured.
