MCTA (conference)

The conference "Mobile Commerce - Technologies, Markets, Applications" , better known under its abbreviation "MCTA" , is the oldest still existing mobile business conference in Germany and is held annually at the end of January. It was founded in 2001 as "Workshop Mobile Commerce" by Key Pousttchi at the University of Augsburg in order to bring science and practice together under the motto "Science meets Industry". At the same time, it represented the first regular scientific conference on the then new topic of m-commerce and mobile business. Since 2003, the MCTA has been jointly run by the wi-mobile research group of the University of Augsburg and the Gesellschaft für Informatik e. V. organized, from 2005 under the name "Mobile Commerce - Technologies and Applications (MCTA)" in Augsburg . From 2009 it took place in Berlin under the name "Mobile Commerce Technologies, Markets, Applications (MCTA)" . In March 2014 it was announced that the conference was moving to Frankfurt with an expanded concept. In particular in the areas of mobile payment and mobile banking , it is also very renowned beyond the German-speaking area.
