The MHK Dubnica ( Mestský hokejový klub Dubnica nad Váhom ) is a Slovak ice hockey club from Dubnica nad Váhom , which was founded in 1942 and currently plays in the third class 2nd division, but previously played several seasons in the extra league . The club plays its home games in Zimný štadión Dubnica nad Váhom , which holds 3,000 spectators.

history

The MHK Dubnica was founded in 1942 under the name ŠK Dubnica . Numerous name changes followed before the club chose its current name in 2007. When Dubnica still played in the Czechoslovak league system, the team never got beyond the second division .

After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the division into the independent states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia , Dubnica was divided into the second-class first division in the 1993/94 season and immediately achieved promotion to the extra division . In the third year of their membership in the Extraliga, the team rose again in the 1996/97 season, however, in the first division. After the second division championship in 2004 Dubnica managed to return to the extra league for a season. The club now competes in the third-class 2nd division.
