The MTU Cup is an international C-youth - soccer tournament that annually in early December in the ZF Arena Friedrichshafen takes place. It has been held since 2003. The organizer is VfB Friedrichshafen . With 7,500 spectators on two tournament days, the MTU Cup is the best-attended U15 indoor tournament in the world.

Records

The record winner is FC Barcelona with four tournament victories. The record scorer is Youssoufa Moukoko , who scored 28 goals in eleven games at the 2016 MTU Cup. The final day of the MTU Cup 2019 was sold out for the first time with 4,000 spectators. The official YouTube video about the MTU Cup 2017 received over 11 million views and is the most successful YouTube video ever published by a German soccer club. This success was awarded the DFB Honorary Award 2019 by the DFB .

The tournament

The game is played on a 40 × 20 meter artificial turf field filled with rubber granulate , which is surrounded on all sides by a meter high wooden board. The goals are 5 × 2 meters. The tournament lasts two days. 24 teams take part in the tournament. The field of participants consists of eight international professional teams, eight German Bundesliga clubs and eight teams from Friedrichshafen and the surrounding area.

Many international top teams such as FC Barcelona , Atletico Madrid , Manchester United , FC Liverpool , FC Chelsea , Manchester City , FC Arsenal , AC Milan , Juventus Turin , Ajax Amsterdam , Benfica Lisbon , FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund took part in the MTU Cup.

The MTU Friedrichshafen is since the first tournament in 2003, the main sponsor and namesake of the MTU Cup.
