Maëster
Jean-Marie Ballester (born March 7, 1959 in Chéraga , Algeria ), known as Maëster , is a French comic artist and scenarioist , as well as caricaturist .
life and work
As a reader of the magazines Spirou , Tintin and Pilote in his youth, Maëster discovered his role models and influences there: André Franquin , Albert Uderzo and above all Gotlib . In 1982 he started short stories at Fluide Glacial . There he quickly developed into one of the main authors and from 1986 created the three-volume series around the sex- obsessed Athanagor Wurlitzer . Three years later, the first volume in the series appeared around Sœur Marie-Thérèse des Batignolles , a religious sister, but no less obsessed (alcohol, drugs, and also a little sex). In 1997, with Gotlib's blessing, he used his character Inspecteur Charolles in the two-volume Meurtres fatals . In 2005 he moved to L'Echo des Savanes , where the sixth volume by Sœur Marie-Thérèse des Batignolles appeared as a preprint.
In addition to his comics, he created illustrations for magazines, including for Lui and as a cartoonist, Maëster has portrayed over 300 prominent personalities.
