James Broselow

James Broselow (born January 12, 1943 in Woodbury , USA ) is an American emergency doctor , lecturer , inventor and entrepreneur .

Life

He and his ambulance colleague Robert Luten are known in medical circles for inventing the Broselow Children's Emergency Tape in 1985, a widely used tool in children's emergency medicine .

Broselow is currently Chief Medical Officer of eBroselow GmbH , which he co-founded in 2009, and which produces an electronic drug dosing and tracking system for ambulance services and emergency rooms . Broselow is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine . Broselow lives in Hickory with his wife .

Early years

Broselow was born in Woodbury , New Jersey . He grew up in Franklinville , New Jersey, received an undergraduate degree in economics from Dartmouth College in 1965 and graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1969 . After graduation from medical school Broselow received his license as a general practitioner and began a private practice in Frankenmuth , Michigan . He took an interest in emergency medicine through his private practice work and moved to North Carolina in 1980 , where he practiced emergency medicine at three community hospitals: Lincoln County Hospital , Cleveland Memorial, and Catawba Valley Medical Center . In 2006 he retired from clinical work.

Inventions and Entrepreneurship

Broselow holds twelve patents in his name related to emergency treatment for children.

Awards and recognitions

In 2012 Broselow received the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) Lifetime Achievement Award .
