The ossuary monument of Mačkov Kamen ( Serbian - Cyrillic Мачков камен , the cat stone ) stands at a height of 923 m above sea ​​level on the Jagodnja mountain near Ljubovija in Serbia . It contains the bones of the soldiers of the First World War who died in the Battle of the Drina .

history

Construction began in 1925 on the initiative of the Minister of Construction Milorad Vujičić. Committee members were Ljuba Jovanović (President of the People's Assembly), Đorđe Vajfert (Governor of the National Bank) and Dr. Arčibald Rajs as well as wealthy citizens from Rađevina and Azbukovica . The design comes from the architect Momir Korunović and the builder Šime Franović and was built in 1929. The transfer of the bones of the fallen soldiers took place in August 1931 with the approval of the Army Ministry.
