Manfred Reuther

Manfred Reuther (* 1944 ) is a German art historian . He was director of the Nolde Foundation Seebüll for 20 years .

Life

After studying art and art history in Düsseldorf , Marburg and Tübingen, Reuther became a research assistant at the Nolde Foundation Seebüll in 1972 . From 1992 until his retirement in 2012, he succeeded Martin Urban as director of the foundation. He is regarded as a recognized expert and the world's best expert on the work of Emil Nolde , whom he made internationally known.

In 2009, Reuther was awarded the honorary professorship of the state of Schleswig-Holstein “in recognition and appreciation of his outstanding services to the preservation, scientific support and worldwide dissemination of the work of the painter Emil Nolde” .
