Railway lines in Saudi Arabia

Maʿaden ( Arabic معادن, DMG Maʿādin ; officially Arabic شركة التعدين العربية السعودية, DMG Šarikat at-Taʿdīn al-ʿArabiyya as-Saʿūdiyya , English Saudi Arabian Mining Company ) is a Saudi mining company . In the mines of the group is gold , phosphate , bauxite , copper and industrial minerals ( kaolin , magnesite ) degraded.

In 2015, 50% of sales were generated with phosphate ( DAP ) and industrial minerals and 43.5% with aluminum.

history

Saudi Arabia is an old mining region, so gold was mined in Mahd adh-Dhahab (German: cradle of gold ) as early as 1000 AD.

Locations

Maʿaden holds numerous exploration licenses , only a few of which are currently being developed. In Ras al-Khair on the Persian Gulf there is a phosphate and an aluminum plant as well as a seawater desalination plant . In Medina there is a factory for (caustic and dead burned) magnesium oxide (magnesia). A phosphate plant (MWASPC) is currently being built in Wa'ad Al Shamal in collaboration with SABIC and Mosaic . The Jebel Sajid copper mine is jointly operated with Barrick Gold .

Infrastructure

The bulk raw materials (phosphate, bauxite) are transported on the north-south railway line . Since gold mining is water-intensive, Maʿaden built a 430 km pipeline from Ta'if to the south into the gold mining region.
