Maaike Ouboter (born January 12, 1992 ) is a Dutch singer-songwriter .

Career

Ouboter grew up in Gouda and attended the GSG Leo Vroman there . Both parents died early. She studied media and cultural studies at the University of Amsterdam and from July 2012 to January 2013 studied at the University of Technology, Sydney .

From May to July 2013 Ouboter took part in the De Beste singer-songwriter van Nederland . After her first appearance on May 27, 2013, her song Dat ik je mis reached top position on the Dutch iTunes charts within two days , and the next day in Belgium. On June 1, 2013, she debuted at number 1 in the Dutch Top 40 and shortly afterwards at number 1 in the Flemish singles chart. Barely a month after their appearance, Ouboter received their first gold record for more than 15,000 copies. A week and a half later, Ouboter's single went platinum. On July 29th, she was in the final of the show alongside five other participants, but Michael Prins won it.

On June 19, 2015, two years after her breakthrough in De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland , Ouboter released her debut album En hoe het dan ook weer dag wordt . For the album she worked with the Belgian singer Joost Zweegers , among others .
