Maaike Schuurmans

Maaike Schuurmans (born December 14, 1967 in Sneek ) is a Dutch actress and musical artist .

Life

Maaike Schuurmans attended the Amsterdam Theater School, which she graduated with a diploma in 1990 in the fields of "Cabaret" and "Musical". First she performed in her home country, including as Lina Lamont in a stage version of Singin 'In The Rain and in the title role in Peter Pan . From 1998 Schuurmans also worked in England, Belgium and Germany. In Essen she was the narrator in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , on the occasion of the German premiere of the dance of the vampires in Stuttgart in 2000 she appeared on stage as Magda . In Hamburg embodied Schuurmans the Baroness von Waldstätten in Mozart and in Cats the Grizabella on a tour of Germany. She also appeared several times at the Bad Hersfeld Festival , for example as Anita in the West Side Story or as Panther Bagheera in a musical version of the Jungle Book . In 2008 she was awarded the Hersfeld Prize for her portrayal of Lucy Harris in Jekyll & Hyde . Schuurmans also played in the musical Into the Woods at the Staatstheater Kassel in 2010/11 and in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's comedy The Visit of the Old Lady in the Ronacher in Vienna in 2014 . There she also played Miss Andrews in the musical version of Mary Poppins . In 2016 Maaike Schuurmans took on the role of Madame Giry in the Hamburg musical Love Never Dies at the Stage Operettenhaus in Hamburg.

In 2000 Maaike Schuurmans toured the Netherlands with the musical show SimmerTime . The live recordings of this concert were published on a CD, which earned her a gold record. In early 2006, Schuurmans' first solo show with songs by Burt Bacharach premiered. Anyone Who Had a Heart - the name of their show - was also the title of their first solo CD.

Maaike Schuurmans works mainly as a stage actress and has only been seen sporadically on Dutch television so far. She currently lives in Vienna.
