The Maaseiker Mittfastenumzug ( Dutch : Internationale Maaseiker Halfvastenstoet) is the oldest carnival parade in Belgium . The event takes place every year in Maaseik on Mittfasten .

The move began in 1865 as the Cavalcade ; it is believed that there were moves before. But there is no proof of this. There are many participants and almost every year 77 groups from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany . The parade goes through the streets of the historic old town and is 2.5 km long.
