The Macfie Sound is a strait in the William Scoresby Archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Lands . It runs in an east-west direction between the islands of Islay and Bertha Island . At its narrowest point, it is 1.5 km wide.
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations discovered them in 1936 and named them after Lieutenant Archibald Frederick Macfie (1905 - unknown) of the Reserve Forces of the Royal Navy , who was involved in the creation of the maps for this research series.
