Mach dich ran is a combination of consumer magazine and game show, which is broadcast every Monday from 7:50 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on MDR television and is repeated on the following Tuesday in the night program. The program is not broadcast live , but recorded beforehand.

The broadcast of Mach dich ran began in 1992, shortly after the MDR started broadcasting. It was one of several programs that were designed as short game shows and the title of which was derived as a backronym from the abbreviation for the station name MDR . The shows sometimes also had the common subtitle (Das) MDR-Spiel , which in this way had a double meaning. Other programs of this kind included Malheur through Risk , Music through Rubbeln , Miss Deutung retour , Mini Thursday Roulette , Traveling with Dubinski or the Market of Rarities . They ran on weekdays between 7:50 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. in the MDR program and were intended to help increase awareness and popularity of the station, which at the beginning of its broadcasting activity suffered from the image that was displacing the DFF , which was very popular in eastern Germany at the time to have. In the beginning, Mach dich ran ran on different days of the week, so in the spring of 1992 the program was for a while on Tuesdays, while on Mondays music was broadcast by scratching .

From the start, the show was moderated by Hendrik Petzold . After the latter had disclosed his contacts with the Ministry for State Security that existed in GDR times to the station in August 2001 , Petzold had to leave the program. In his place, Mario D. Richardt took over the moderation of Mach dich ran in September 2001 .

The program consists of three parts - the daily task, the wish fulfillment and a game.

The game is the main storyline of the show. It varied every few years. Games were u. a. the Monday question (2007–2008), in which an experiment is presented at the end of a broadcast and viewers had to guess how this experiment would end up until the next broadcast. In Trau dich (2002–2008 in several seasons), the moderator had to either find someone within an hour to take part in a test of courage or else show courage himself. A total of around 70 tests of courage took place and around ten percent fell back on the moderator Mario D. Richardt . At the Dreiländerspiel (2008–2009), individuals or groups from the broadcasting area of ​​the MDR ( Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia ) competed against each other in different weekly games for a year and a half . In the three-country game , the state of Thuringia won in all disciplines, just ahead of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony.

The city ​​game has been taking place since 2010 , during which the team is on the road in various cities in the broadcasting area and presenter Mario D. Richardt surprises on site. Only in front of the camera does he receive an envelope in which a task is formulated for him. Those present type how well the moderator masters the task. Whoever rates him best wins the game. If there are several identical tips, there are several winners; if there are too many identical tips (e.g. because the game only allows a few betting options), a winner is determined by means of a lottery. If the moderator does too badly, he has to take a penalty. Sometimes the moderator is not told the penalty or the criterion for the penalty until after the task has been performed.

The winner of the game can then watch the daily task as a video and guess whether it will be solved or not. If the tip is correct, the prize will be a sum of money, the amount of which corresponded to the serial number of the series of Mach dich ran . Since the one thousandth shipment was exceeded, the profit is limited to 1,000 euros. If there are several winners, the amount will be divided equally among them. If the winner, or if there are multiple winners, guesses them all wrong, the moderator asks the television viewers a question, the prize will be drawn from all correct entries and the winner will be announced in one of the next episodes of the program.

In the daily task , viewers describe their problems in the morning. B. with authorities and companies or insurance companies, but no longer know what to do, in other tasks z. B. certain things are purchased or work is carried out by professionals. The team tries to solve this problem by the evening - with the camera running and without prior notification to the authorities or companies. Around 80 percent of the tasks are solved within one day, whereby the task setter sometimes also see a partially solved task as being fulfilled.

In the wish fulfillment , the team fulfills the wishes of the audience, for example a personal meeting with idols or trips with unusual means of transport. The person in question is often advertised by an acquaintance and then surprised with the wish fulfillment. Sometimes, in addition to or instead of the wish fulfillment, an addendum to a daily task or a penalty from a game is shown in the third part of the broadcast .
