Macig Labdrön

Macig Labdrön ( Tib . : ma gcig lab sgron ; also: Machig Labdrön , Machik Labdron , Machig Labdron , Machig Lapdron ; * 11th century in Tsang , Lhokha ; † 12th century ) was an important yogini of Buddhism in Tibet who before especially with the spread of the COE is associated -Teaching. CO aims to cut off ego attachment that is believed to be the root of worldly suffering.

Macig Labdrön was seen as the reincarnation of Yeshe Tshogyel , as well as an emanation of Tara and is often depicted in iconography with the attributes of a Dakini . Her main teacher is the Indian Mahasiddha Phadampa Sanggye (Tib .: pha dam pa sangs rgyas ), who was also regarded as the reincarnation of Padmasambhava . Phadampa called her u. a. Vajra demon conqueror (Tib .: rdo rje bdud 'dul chen mo ).

Tsültrim Allione distinguishes three main lines in the form of oral teachings that were transmitted to Macig Labdrön:

  1. Gyütab : The line of the Sutric teachings on Buddha / Manjushri / Nagarjuna / Aryadeva / Aryadeva Brahmin / Phadampa / Chö Shakya Yeshe / Sönam Lama and Uncle Khudbonan transmitted to Macig Labdrön.
  2. Sherabgyü : Transmitted to Macig Labdrön via Yum Chenmo ("Great Mother") / Tara / Sukhasiddhi / Brahmin Aryadeva / Phadampa Sanggye and Sönam Lama.
  3. Zungjug : Transmitted to Macig Labdrön via Yum Chenmo / Buddha Shakyamuni / Arya Tara / Manjushri Arya Deva / Phadampa Sanggye and Sönam Lama.
