Alexander Alexejewitsch Petrowski ( Russian Александр Алексеевич Петровский , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Alekseevič Petrovskij ; born March 3, 1989 in Tashkent ) is a former Russian cyclist .

Athletic career

Alexander Petrowski won the bronze medal in the team pursuit and silver in the Madison on the track at the Junior European Championships 2007 in Cottbus . At the Junior World Championships in Aguascalientes in the same year he won silver in the team pursuit and was world champion in Madison together with Yevgeny Kovalyov . In 2008 he finished fifth at the World Championships in Manchester and sixth in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Beijing . At the end of the season he won the silver medal in the team pursuit of the U23 class at the European Track Cycling Championships in Pruszków . A year later he was U23 European champion in the team pursuit in Minsk together with Artur Jerschow , Valeri Kaikow and Evgeni Kowaljow .

From 2008 to 2010, Petrowski drove on the road for the Russian Katusha Continental Team . His best result was a third stage position at the Grand Prix du Portugal 2009.
