Machinae Supremacy comes from Luleå , Sweden .

The band itself describes their style of music as SID Metal , which is a mixture of melodic hard rock and chiptune . One of the central elements is the use of melodies from the period and in the style of the Commodore 64 . Machinae Supremacy use a SIDstation that contains the SID chip of the C64.

history

Machinae Supremacy was founded by Robert, Kahl and Jonne in the summer of 2000. The band got two new members when Gordon, an old friend of Robert, took over the keyboard and Tobbe played the drums.

In 2001 a side project called FLAK was founded. It turned mainly to punk rock and thus expressed the political orientation of the band. A quote from the singer: "FLAK is ... aggression and pain !: It's a band, but it's nothing serious, just a means of expression." This project was soon discontinued.

In 2002 Tobbe left the band and Tomas, a former bandmate of Robert, took his place. Machinae Supremacy also performed at the demo party assembly in Helsinki / Finland , which made them particularly popular with many members of the demo scene . The band also became known for the free publication of songs on the Internet, the so-called "web releases", which can still be found on their website.

In 2005 Kahl also left the band because of his move to Uppsala; Johan 'Poe' Palovaara took his place. In 2006 the band changed their line-up again, but the members stayed the same: Gordon took over Robert's role as guitarist, who from then on concentrated on singing. The keyboard parts were then played electronically during live performances. In November 2007, Johan Palovaara also left Machinae Supremacy because of other priorities, including his band SlideShow. His successor is Johan 'dezo' Hedlund.

The album Deus Ex Machinae was released on May 1, 2004 and was released by Music by Design Records Ltd. (MBD) published in the UK.

The band also wrote the soundtrack for the computer game Jets'n'Guns , which is available for Windows and Linux.

In 2005 a second edition of Deus Ex Machinae appeared with the bonus track Soundtrack to the Rebellion . In 2005 MBD Records broke up, but the copyright of the first album was transferred to Machinae Supremacy. On November 13th 2011 the band released Deus Ex Machinae for free download on their homepage. The version of Attack Music on the Deus Ex Machinae album differs from the version available for download in the following: the sample from the Futurama series that can be heard in the intro has been cut out.

In March 2006, after a long, unsuccessful search for a label, the second album Redeemer was released completely independently. Machinae Supremacy has been under contract with the Finnish record label Spinefarm Records since mid-2006 . Redeemer was reshuffled and released on Spinefarm in November 2006 with a new cover and slightly changed track list. Since then, the albums Overworld and A View From The End Of The World have been released in 2008 , also on Spinefarm.

In October 2012 the video game Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams was released, to which they contributed the soundtrack with Chris Hülsbeck .
