Macklin Island

Macklin Island is a small island off the Mawson Coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It rises up to 30 m above sea level and is 5 km northwest of Cape Daly in the eastern section of the Robinson group .

Norwegian cartographers mapped it in 1947 using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named the island after Eric Leslie Macklin (1925-1997), a radio operator on Mawson Station in 1955 and 1959.
