Macrocilix maia is a moth in the genus Drepanidae . It occurs in India , Japan , Taiwan , Korea , China , Malaysia , Sumatra and Borneo .

It was described in 1888 by John Henry Leech as Macrocilix maia and Argyris maia .

The moth has a wingspan of 37–45 mm. The imagos can be observed in May.

The caterpillar feeds on the leaves of the Chinese cork oak . It has a cream-colored body with black patterns.

The pattern of the adult moth shows two flies feeding on bird droppings. The moth has a foul smell. It's a form of mimicry .
