The Madagascar warblers (Bernieridae) are a family of songbirds that are endemic to Madagascar and whose representatives have so far been distributed among other families - the Bülbüls (Pycnonotidae), warblers (Sylviidae) and Timalias (Timaliidae). A separate family for the contained species has been discussed for some time. However, it was officially described for the first time in 2010 , when genetic tests finally confirmed the close relationship of the form-rich group. It consists of eleven species in eight genera.

The Madagascar warblers are - measured by the small number of species - very rich in shape and in this respect comparable to other endemic groups such as the Galápagos finches or the Vanga stranglers, which are also native to Madagascar . All species are forest dwellers who feed on insects . Within these similarities, there are strong differences in habitat choice and diet, which explains the wealth of shapes. The eleven species differ greatly in the shape of their beak, the proportions of their wings and tail, and the length of their legs. In size, they vary between about 12 cm Laubsänger large edge Madagascar singer ( Randia pseudozosterops ) and with 17.5 to 20 cm just under throttling large Gmelin Madagascar singer ( Bernieria madagascariensis ).
