Madeleine Gay

Madeleine Gay (* 1953 in Maurifer near Sion ) is a Swiss oenologist . Until her retirement in autumn 2015, she was head oenologist at Provins in the canton of Valais , Switzerland's largest winery. In 2008 and 2013 she was voted Swiss winemaker of the year at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse .

Life

Madeleine Gay studied viticulture and oenology at the École d'ingénieurs de Changins after training at the Châteauneuf Agricultural School . In 1981 the engineer began her career with the Provins cooperative, where she signed her first labels in 1997. Over the course of over three decades, she has built several major wine lines.
