Madkid ( マ ッ ド キ ッ ド Maddokiddo , spelling MADKID ) is a musician collective from Tokyo Prefecture founded in 2014 .

history

Madkid emerged from the pop band J-Boys 5, founded in May 2014 by singers Kento, Lin, Ririko, Yuki and Kazuki . Kento left the group in September of the same year and was replaced by You-Ta. In May 2015, Ririko left the band, whose place was taken by Casey. He moved back to the United States in January 2016 to study in Florida . Shin joined the quartet in February.

After the band released seven singles and their debut album named after the group on smaller labels between 2014 and 2017, Nippon Columbia signed the quintet. At the end of January 2018, Never Going Back , the debut single on the major sub-label, was released and was listed in the Oricon single charts , where the single entered at number 21 and lasted for two weeks. The single Rise , released on February 6, 2019, was used as the opening credits for the anime series The Rising of the Shield Hero , which is shown internationally under the name The Rising of the Shield Hero on Crunchyroll . The song entered the Japanese singles chart at number 11.

On March 8, 2019, the group announced their first full-fledged major album Circus for April 24 of the same year. In addition to Rise , the album also contains the song Faith , which is used as the second clip for The Rising of the Shield Hero , as well as an English version of the two pieces. On August 30, 2019, the band will perform for the first time in the United States as part of the Anime Expo .
