The Madom Gröss ( 2741 m above sea level ; Italian: Madone Grosso) is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps in Ticino . After the Pizzo Campo Tencia and the Pizzo Barone, it forms the third highest elevation in the mountain range that separates the Verzasca Valley in the southwest from the Leventina and the Riviera in the northeast and east. With the Pizzo di Mezzodi (in the north) and the Pizzo Cramosino (in the south-east), the Madom Gröss has two only slightly lower peaks adjacent to it.
The Madom Gröss is the highest peak that is crossed on the Via Alta della Verzasca . The ascent usually takes place over the ridge coming from Pizzo Cramosino or over a steep couloir in the eastern flank (with climbing passages in the I to II degrees).
