The Bad Kissinger Madonna is a Madonna sculpture based on late Gothic models in the Bavarian spa town of Bad Kissingen in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen . It belongs to the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered under the number D-6-72-114-261 in the Bavarian monument list .

history

The large Madonna sculpture was designed by sculptor Valentin Weidner around 1900 and was initially part of the Villa Rosenhügel below the Garitz Altenberg on Schönbornstrasse as the house Madonna . The Protestant Geisler, owner of the Villa Rosenhügel , sold it to pastor Friedrich Roth in April 1906 . In 1909, under Pastor Roth, the statue was moved to its current location on Sinnberg at the intersection of Lenbachstrasse and Marienweg near the current park cemetery .

The original fence no longer exists; on the other hand, the statue is now surrounded by buildings. A first renovation of the statue took place in 1981, whereby Weidner's signature could be proven. In the 1990s, the planting around the sculpture was trimmed. In the meantime the statue has been renovated one more time.
