Madosini (bourgeois Lathozi Mpahleni ) (* 1939 in Mqekezweni near Umtata ) is a traditional Xhosa musician and narrator in Mpondoland in South Africa .
In her youth, Madosini learned how to make and play instruments from her mother. She sings and plays instruments like this umrhubhe (painted mouth bow ), uhadi (Kalebassen- musical bow ) and sitolotolo ( Jew's harp ). Her music was first recorded while filming in 1974 and played on the radio without paying her fee. She recorded her own album in 1997, worked with other musicians (including within the framework of WOMAD ) and also performed in Germany in 2007. Her piece of music Wen'usegoli was part of the soundtrack of the South African film A Woman Called Yesterday (2004).
