WOMAD
WOMAD ("World of Music, Arts and Dance") is a series of music festivals that perform music , arts and dance from different cultures. The history of WOMAD was mainly influenced by Peter Gabriel . The first WOMAD festival took place in 1982 in Shepton Mallett, England . Since then, around 145 events have been held in 22 countries around the world.
On July 2, 2005, WOMAD was also significantly involved in the Africa Calling concert as part of the Live 8 events in Cornwall.
