Maegie Koreen

Maegie Koreen (born February 25, 1954 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German chanson singer and author. She runs a culture agency and produces a record label .

Life

At the age of 14 she performed with Edith Piaf chanson Non, je ne regrette rien in youth centers and at beat festivals. In 1973 she received an ARD young talent award. In 1974 she appeared in the pre-tour program of singer Hana Hegerová in Germany, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Since then she has performed continuously as a chanson singer in various concert programs.

She wrote a biography of Claire Waldoff, Immerfest druff , toured Germany with a Waldoff Chanson program. Their trademark are word and language games. She sings about feelings and dreams, gets to the heart of the cabaret tradition.

M. Koreen runs a culture agency and media production under the CD label Chanson Cafe .

Workshops

Maegie Koreen has been campaigning for the next generation with chanson workshops since 2001. In 2005 Koreen carried out her 4th chanson workshop "Evening concert maturity". The four graduates Mario Stork, Pascal Vallée, Jennifer Labath and Daniel Malzahn presented the resulting concert series, Heart Over Head, with their own solo program.

Man, Ruhrpott!

The cabaret revue "Mensch, Ruhrpott!" premiered in May 2007 in the Consol Theater Gelsenkirchen and was performed in many cities. The "Chansons and songs from the hometown" thematize the peculiarities and the development of the Ruhr area with the participation of various guest artists.

Chanson Café Europe

"Chanson Café Europa" is a concert series created by Koreen in 2008, which presents and historically reflects the works of small Jewish artists between home and exile before, during and after the Nazi era. Three of the "Concerts Against Forgetting", each with a different thematic focus, took place in 2009 in the New Synagogue in Gelsenkirchen. In particular, the life of Stella Kadmon in Vienna, Annemarie Hase in Berlin and the composer of Piaf, Norbert Glanzberg in Paris, are the main themes of the concert series. Participants in the series are Maegie Koreen, Pascal Vallée, Jennifer Labath, Nina Tripp and the pianist Niclas Floer.

RuhrChansonnale

Maegie Koreen founded the RuhrChansonnale in 2005 as a network and promotion of the chanson. Under this brand she carried out numerous events such as "The Night of Chansons", "DIVA" and festivals with artists from the Ruhr area and their solo programs.

In May 2008 the RuhrChansonnale was selected by an international jury as one of the first official TWINS 2010 projects of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 . With this status, the idea of ​​the RuhrChansonnale as a chanson network was expanded to the European level. Under the title "Festival of European Song Poets", Maegie Koreen made a guest appearance in March 2010 with international artists from Russia, Poland, France, Austria and the Ruhr area in the four Ruhr area cities of Hagen, Gladbeck, Gelsenkirchen and Bottrop. This resulted in an audio CD and a DVD documentation.
