Maetsma is an Estonian village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Avinurme ( Avinurme vald ). It is located in the Ida-Viru district ( East Wierland ).

Description and history

The village has 63 inhabitants (as of 2010). South of Maetsma is the Suursoo moorland.

Maetsma was first mentioned in 1599. At that time the place consisted of two farms. In 1624 there was only one farmstead in the village, at the end of the 17th century there were five.
