Mafed is an ancient Egyptian god of the dead , which is first documented in the late period . The name “the cat” is derived from the Egyptian term “ Pa-miau ”. At around the same time, the female counterpart , the deity Mafdet , takes over the tasks and functions of Nephthys as "widow of Osiris " and "daughter of Geb and Nut ".
As equating the Behedeti, Mafed takes on the function of “the one who opens up the paths in the Keku-semau area for the deceased in the Duat ”.
