history

Mafell table saw

Mafell was in 1899 as Ma schin factory fur bach in Fellbach founded in Stuttgart. In 1926 Mafell developed the world's first portable electric carpentry machine , a chain milling machine ("Machine Type A"). After the company headquarters was relocated to Oberndorf-Aistaig in 1933, Rudolf Mey took over management two years later.

From 1960, the machine housings were made from die-cast magnesium . Ernst Krauss had been the managing director since 1974.

In 1980 Mafell launched the Erika mobile underfloor hoist saw , which had a unique position on the market for twelve years. The table saw , which for a long time was only available in a typical green, was characterized by an injection-molded base and a powerful electric motor. The robust and reliable machine quickly gained a good reputation, especially when used on building sites or on similar occasions. Since it is not the workpiece but the saw blade that is moved, the cutting quality and safety for the user increase. In some languages, the product name is already used as a generic term for these circular saws.

In 1990 the company moved to its current location in Oberndorf-Lindenhof. In 1997 Mafell GmbH & Co. KG was converted into a stock corporation. In 1999 the production area was significantly expanded. In 2001 Matthias Krauss, the son of Ernst Krauss, took over the management of the family business.

Awards

In 2002 Mafell received the innovation prize of the state of Baden-Württemberg (Rudolf Eberle Prize) for the automatic panel saw system PSS 3100. In 2003, the Eumacop innovation prize for the Flexistem KSP 40 followed. In 2007, 2009 and 2014 Mafell was one of the 100 most innovative company.
