The house at Magdalenenstrasse 17 is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
A dendrochronological examination of a wooden beam in the front building dates the house to the year 1605. Stylistically, the building belongs to the Renaissance . The house comes from the first phase of construction in the old suburb.
The gable is wood verschindelt ; and is therefore without the historical cornice division. The facade is plastered . The windows and the courtyard gate were reconstructed in keeping with the style.
Subsequently, a disfiguring dwelling with a towed roof was added on the north side of the house .
Monument protection
The house at Magdalenenstrasse 17 is a typical example of the renaissance style in Darmstadt. For architectural and city history reasons, the building is considered a cultural monument .
