Magic is a 1980 song by Olivia Newton-John written and produced by John Farrar. It is a soundtrack to the movie Xanadu and is also included on the soundtrack album.
history
Released on May 23, 1980, the disco number became a number one hit in the United States and Canada . Magic is Newton-John's twenty-fifth chart hit and the tenth to be awarded a gold record in the United States. For the year 1980, the classified Billboard the song as the third most successful single to Call Me by Blondie and Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd . In one on Newsweek in September 1980, before his death , John Lennon named Magic and All Over the World as two recent songs he likes.
The B-sides of the single vary by label: MCA Records includes the song Fool Country and Jet Records includes the duet Whenever You're Away from Me with Gene Kelly .
