Magical Girl of the End ( Japanese 魔法 少女 ・ オ ブ ・ ジ ・ エ ン ド , Mahō Shōjo obu ji Endo ) is a manga series by Kentarō Satō that has been released in Japan since 2012. The series, which can be classified in the horror genre , is about Gothic Lolita girls who trigger a zombie apocalypse.

The high school student Kii Kogami ( 児 上 貴 衣 ) is bored with everyday life in the first grade of high school and wants a little more excitement in his life. During a test he looks outside and watches a little girl in a Gothic Lolita outfit knock the head off a teacher's body in the schoolyard. He thinks he is daydreaming, he feels sick and he goes to the bathroom. When he returns, the girl also kills his classmates. Kogami can kill them, but only Tsukune Fukumoto ( 福 本 つ く ね ) remains alive next to him . They still know each other from elementary school, but Kii has become estranged from her over time and, in order to save unnecessary stress, has long ignored the fact that Tsukune is being bullied by others.

Soon afterwards, they experience that their classmates who have been killed are resurrected as zombies who, like the girl before, kill others and wrap themselves in Gothic Lolita clothing. Outside they see more Gothic Lolita girls descending from heaven like the first one. Together with other survivors, consisting of Tsukune's former tormentor Kaede Sayano, the perverted police officer Rintaro Akuta, the attractive high school student Yoruka Hanzawa, the medical student Ren Kushiro and the primary school student Miu Anai, they are now trying to find out what is going on around them. It turns out that the murderous Gothic Lolita girls are Magical Girls , who come from the future and are part of a diabolical plan. The mastermind is Kii's deaf and mute classmate Wataru Himeji.

The series was published in Japan from June 12, 2012 to August 12, 2017 in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine . The publisher Akita Shoten brought the chapters in 16 tankōbon out -Sammelbänden.

The manga was published in German from September 2014 to July 2018 by Tokyopop with all 16 volumes. The series has been published in French by Akata since May 2014, and in October 2014 published by Seven Seas Entertainment under the title Magical Girl Apocalypse in English.

The volumes sold around 50,000 copies each in Japan.

Jason Thompson names the series on Anime News Network as # 5 of the 10 best zombie series. He writes that "firearms, blood and fan service run three inches down the streets" in the series . The series is recommended for fans of High School of the Dead , an older zombie manga who want to read an even rawer and funnier series.
