The Magijandarja ( Tajik Моғиёндарё ; also Mogijondarja ; Russian Магиана Magijana ; Uzbek Magʻiyondaryo ) is a left tributary of the Serafshan in Tajikistan . It flows through the Punjakent district in the extreme southwest of the Sughd province .
The Magijandarja rises on the northern edge of the Baisuntau -Gebirgszugs near the border with Uzbekistan . It is fed by the local glaciers . The Magijandarja flows north through the mountains. In the upper reaches it flows through a chain of mountain lakes, the so-called "seven lakes". The top two lakes, Khazortchashma (Lake No. 7) and Margeor (Lake No. 6), are the largest. They were created as moraine lakes .
The river cuts through the western part of the Serafchan chain . In Sudschina , 10 km east of panjakent which Magijandarja flows into the flowing westward Zeravshan. The Magijandarja has a length of about 60 km. The catchment area covers 1100 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 7.67 m³ / s. The months with the highest outflows are June, July and August.
