Magne Rommetveit

Magne Rommetveit (born April 27, 1956 in Time ) is a Norwegian politician of the social democratic Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). Since 2009 he has been a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

After graduating from Bryne High School in 1975, Rommetveit studied teaching in Stord from 1978 to 1981 . From 1975 to 1997 he worked as a construction worker, then until 1998 as a guard in Åna prison. From 1983 to 2007 he sat in the local parliament of Stord, from 1991 he was the mayor of the municipality. He then worked as the community chief until 2009.

Rommetveit moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2009 general election . There he represents the constituency of Hordaland and he was initially a member of the Transport and Communication Committee. He stayed there after the 2013 election . Following the 2017 election , he was transferred to the Control and Constitutional Committee. He was also elected third Vice-President of Parliament in October 2017.

In May 2020 he declared that he did not want to run for a seat in Storting again in the 2021 election .
