Magnus (Sweden)

Magnus the Strong or Magnus Nilsson of Denmark (* 1107 , † June 4, 1134 in Fodevig ) was a Danish nobleman and King of Sweden .

As the son of King Niels of Denmark and Margarethe Fredkulla, he was Prince of Denmark . In 1127 he married Rikissa of Poland , a daughter of the Polish Duke Bolesław III. Schiefmund and his second wife Salome von Berg-Schelklingen .

Around 1125 Magnus von der West Gaut is said to have been elected King of Sweden after the death of King Ragnvald and remained so for the next five years. In Östergötland he could not prevail against King Sverker I. In 1130 he was expelled from Sweden by Sverker I.

After the murder of Knud Lavard he wanted , he fell in the battle of Fodevig in 1134 in the southwest of Skåne .
