Mahamat Nouri

General Mahamat Nouri (* 1947 in Faya-Largeau ) is a rebel leader in Chad and currently commander of the Union des forces pour la démocratie et le développement (UFDD).

Nouri was a close ally of Hissène Habré for a long time and, after 1990, of President Idriss Déby . Between 1978 and 2004 he held several ministerial posts. His last official position before moving to the rebel camp was that of ambassador to Saudi Arabia in 2006.

Nouri belongs to the Tubu of the Anakaza clan, as does President Hissène Habré.
